Gio is a Toronto-based visual storyteller. Since graduating from Loyalist College's Photojournalism program in 2010, he's worked as a photojournalist, videographer and editor for publications large and small, and corporations and companies of every shape and size. His career, while admittedly still in it's infancy, has taken him across the globe over five continents.
He's interested in offbeat stories which give viewers an insight into a different way of doing things, another way of life. With a creative eye, and a keen curiosity, he holds a very special place in his heart for portraiture and photo essays, as photographers of these disciplines have held a large influence on his practice. He's taken quite the interest in Latin America, following two long stays in Costa Rica and Ecuador, and also has a keen interest in seeing much of his own vast homeland "A Mari Usque Ad Mare".
Gio has had the privilege of contributing photography, videography, picture and video editing services to a multitude of editorial clients including, but not limited to: The Canadian Press, Anadolou Agency, The Globe and Mail, Maclean's Magazine, Toronto Life, National Post, The Grid Magazine and other local and international publications. As someone committed and interested in giving back to his industry, he's also involved in the promotion and advancement of professional photojournalism, namely as a volunteer on the executive of the News Photographer's Association of Canada, NPAC.
When he’s not on assignment or on the desk, Gio is always making images in some fashion, often in various places around the city with a smartphone in-hand. He fills his time with a love of cooking, books, long form journalism, the outdoors, looking at photography and the occasional video game.
